Making Change Happen:
A Workshop to Become “Change Capable”

Making Change Happen is a learning opportunity especially targeted for internal teams who need to influence others and make an impact.

What makes this session different than other “change management” workshops is its emphasis on application and customization:

  • Internal teams work on business challenges they face now, so the tools and theories introduced can be applied in real time.

  • Individuals discover how they interact with others and what they may need to do differently to have an impact.

  • Topics are customized to meet the unique needs of the group. Sessions can be timed to give participants opportunities to apply what they’ve learned in between.

  • Topics focus on both change theory and individual behavior.

The three general topic areas covered are:

  1. Knowing yourself and your client - Looks at clarifying key relationships and reading and reaching others.
  2. Change Readiness - Looks at the organization’s change appetite and assesses the impact of the particular change.
  3. Taking Action - Looks at where to focus and building an action plan.

The organization you support is moving ahead with its strategy and numerous initiatives are underway. There is unrelenting pressure to do more with less, and events not entirely in your control continue to surface.

It’s clear that success will require hard work and strong commitment from people both within and outside of your direct influence. Success also will require people to do things differently than they’ve been asked to in the past.

Whatever the business mandate and whatever one’s role in the enterprise, we are finding a critical need for internal consultants to be “change capable” in order to achieve their specific business objectives. In other words, the ability to make change happen is a subtle expertise, often taken for granted, that can make a difference between success and failure.

It goes beyond understanding ‘how things get done around here’ and ‘who you know’. Making change happen is about knowing yourself, knowing your client, knowing where to focus, and building a flexible game plan.
